Dentures, braces and tongue piercings may increase risk of bacterial infection. Fatigue can also increase risk of infection; please be sure to be well rest and drink plenty of water days prior to your appointment. If you've had any kind of lip surgery, please consult with your physician first. Lip fillers/injections must be done at least 4 weeks BEFORE your lip blush appointment. Use lip balm to moisten your lips; do not let them dry. Pain Preparation: Though the sensation of micro-pigmentation implantation is minimal, clients respond differently. Some will feel a stronger sensation than others. Overall, procedures require minimal pain preparation. Topical anesthetic will be applied before and during the procedure. The ice is used to reduce swelling and provide comfort. After the first 24 hours, the use of ice is no longer beneficial. • Wipe the lip with moisten cotton pad every 30 minutes and apply healing ointment. Removing lymph fluid and blood will prevent formation of a scab. • No soap, cleanser or shampoo on the treated area for seven (7) days. Soap and cleansers are designed to remove any foreign substances. Evidently, this is detrimental to the bonding process required for the pigment to become permanent. Toothpaste and mouthwash are considered “soap” and will remove lip color, so proceed with caution when using. • All cleansing should be done with a clean Q-tip dipped in cool water and gently dabbed on the treated area. Do not rub the area in any way. • Apply the Brows, Eyes & Lips ointment with a Q-tip in the procedure area during the healing process to keep the lips moist. Apply to the treated area with a Q-tip several times per day. This is to be done in a gentle dabbing motion as not to disrupt the pigmentation bonding process. This will keep the area moist and accelerate the healing. Do not let the area dry out, keep moist at all times. Apply an extra heavy coat of ointment to the treated area before bedtime, bath, washing of adjacent areas, and immediately upon rising in the morning. If any form of redness, tenderness. Drainage, fever or rash occurs, please contact your health care provider immediately! • Baths and showers are permitted but do not wash, scrub or touch the treated area. Hot, steamy baths and showers should be avoided completely. After two weeks. You may resume all regular activities. • When brushing teeth for the first three (3) days, coat lips with a lot of ointment before brushing and use a minimal amount of toothpaste. • For the first two (2) days, use a straw when drinking liquids; avoid sandwiches, biting into fruit or food that might cause friction to the lips. Smoking is discouraged for optimal results. • Do not use any lipstick or cosmetics on or near the treated area for seven (7) days. If or whenever you do begin using cosmetics again, invest in a new lipstick to support your new look. This will eliminate the possibility of bacteria breeding in an old container. • For at least two (2) weeks, you need to minimize exposure to the sun. I discourage swimming in fresh, salt or chlorinated pool water. • If you use Retin-A, do not allow to close to the treated area for thirty (30) days. It will cause the area to peel and lighten. • Since your procedure is facial, I recommend you sleep on a clean satin pillowcase for seven (7) nights. This will minimize the loss of pigmentation caused by rubbing against a cotton, textured pillowcase as you sleep. • Special care should be exercised while the treated area is healing. Under no circumstance should you pick, scratch or rub the treated area or attempt to remove the crusty material. Removing of the crusts may result in the removal of the actual pigment and/or infection may occur. Always use good health habits. • Variations to these recommendations are not encouraged and will most likely affect the final outcome of your procedure, it not totally remove the implantations. • Healing of lips takes about 3-7 days. Immediately following the procedure, your lip color may look much brighter, but it will soften up and look more natural as you heal. • It is recommended to wait at least 6 weeks for touch up. Due to the use of an anesthetic to ease the discomfort, a white halo may appear around the treated area and will disappear in an hour or so after the appointment. If you see some dark pieces of pigment, do not be alarmed as this is the process of exfoliation and is totally normal. It is best to let the healing process happen naturally for the best end result. First Day Care Once you get home, clean your brows by using a damp cotton pad with drinking water (no sink water) and gently dab your brows clean, then use a clean towel to dab it dry. Wait about 6 hours or before you go to bed to apply the petroleum jelly. Make sure to clean your brows each time before applying. You do not want to trap dirt, oil, dust, or germs. Daily Care to Follow • For dry/normal skin, clean the brows each time before applying a thin layer of Petroleum jelly, twice a day, throughout the healing process until brows are almost done peeling. Your goal is to keep the treated area moist to help with healing/peeling and infections. • If you have oily skin, ointment may not be needed if your natural oil keeps your brows moist. Can be used if you experience dryness and itchiness. Still keep your brows clean by gently dabbing the brows clean daily. • Wash your hands before applying the ointment. Use a clean Q-tip on each side to prevent cross contamination. If you experience excessive itching, swelling or any blistering please stop the usage of the ointment and contact your technician immediately. • Do not cleanse directly on the brows during the first week. Do not splash water on your brows, wash around it. It is recommended that you use a gentle facial cleanser to cleanse your skin. Preferably one that doesn't contain AHA, glycolic, lactic acids, or Retin-A products as they will fade the pigmentation. • If your enhancement gets wet, gently pat the area dry using a clean tissue or towel. • Keep your hair away from your enhancement to prevent the possibility of infection. • Please allow for the enhancement to naturally flake. It is also normal to experience itching. DO NOT PEEL, PICK, or RUB the enhancement as this will make it heal uneven and may cause infection. • Don't undergo any skincare beauty treatments for at least 2 weeks after the application of your enhancement. • No make-up should be applied close to your enhancement during this time. Please also avoid any products that contain Aloe Vera or Vitamin E at this time. • Avoid excessive sweating (gym, outdoor sports/activities etc.) Avoid for 2 weeks •Please avoid having direct sunlight on your enhancement. No tanning treatments, Jacuzzis, saunas, salt water, chlorine water or recreational bodies of water. • Do not tint, wax, or do peels, electrolysis, or laser hair removal treatments around the treated area. Long-term Care • The sun can damage and fade your treated area so take care of your enhancement by investing in a good sunscreen or moisturizer with a healthy dose of at least SPF15. • If you are thinking of having a chemical peel, laser procedure, or an MRI scan inform the technician of your permanent cosmetics. • If you decide to donate blood within a year after your treatment notify the national blood service before as this can affect your ability to donate. Important Notes •It is normal to experience “color loss” during the peeling stage. Allow your brows to stabilize; the color will resurface around week 3-4 and allow your brows to fully heal for 4 weeks to see the final result. •After the initial 14 days, the color you have chosen will fade and begin to appear more natural. • Typically, healing should take up to about 7-14 days, though this can vary case by case due to the fact that some may take longer due to stress, a poor diet, or their immune system is compromised. • Uneven color after the initial treatment is to be expected. In order to ensure the best outcome, we recommend a second session to complete the desired result. Please be mindful of the technician’s time and notify 3 days in advanced if you need to reschedule to a later date. How well you follow the aftercare instructions and maintain your eyebrows on a daily basis will determine the longevity of your tattoo.
